ASTROHN Technology Ltd. thermal imagers: with facial biometrics now
ASTROHN Technology Ltd. and RecFaces, after signing a memorandum of strategic partnership in August 2020, announced the start of a technological conglomerate of ASTROHN TT thermal imagers and Id-Me biometric platform.
ASTROHN thermal imager is designed for automated non-contact identification of people with elevated body temperature at checkpoints. In addition to measuring the body temperature of employees and visitors, the challenge was to ensure error-free control over people passing through the checkpoint. Therefore, it was decided to take the RecFaces Id-Guard biometric solution as a basis and build its functionality into Russian thermal imagers. After the creation of the integration module, access to the facility is now divided into two phases of verification according to different criteria: body temperature, as a sign of a person’s health, and the correspondence of a person passing through the checkpoint with information in the enterprise data base – (photos, full name, gender, etc.). If at least one of these phases is failed, the access control system blocks access devices (turnstile, barrier, etc.).
Work on the integration of the thermal imager and biometrics of the company began in July 2020, and already in August, within the framework of ARMY 2020 ASTROHN Technology Ltd. showed a fully functional operating software and hardware complex. Now ASTROHN thermal imager has additional functions of recognition and verification of people. Id-Guard, in turn, confirms the identity of a person standing in front of the thermal imager, even if his biometric profile is not in the database, as well as finds a person in the lists of employees, visitors or wanted persons, builds a trajectory of movement, sends prompt notifications to the system operator about emergency situations. Such functions will allow not only monitoring people passing through the checkpoint and checking their temperature, but also confirming their identity.
Arkadii Naumov, head of inspection complex development, says that “In the coming years, the topic of control over morbidity will remain. We believe that the emergence of COVID-19 will change a person’s life, as, for example, everything changed after the terrorist attack in New York in 2001. Therefore, we plan to further develop our partnership with Id-Guard in the Russian and other markets. We have already offered our customers to consider the thermal imagers of our production with biometrics of the Id-Guard solution, and received many requests”.
