Over two million people got infected, over one hundred and fifty thousand died. Data on the coronavirus pandemic get worse daily. The entire medical industry, from the manufacturers of masks and gloves to the developers of sophisticated modern technology, took up arms against the dangerous enemy. How prepared are domestic medical rear areas? What will be Russian clinics and hospitals equipped with? And who will say the last word in the fight against coronavirus?
I think this infection will force our doctors to have these thermal imagers. And not only doctors. In any crowded place it will be necessary to identify people with high body temperature.
This is how germanium single crystals are boiled: a whole day long at almost 1000 oC. This rare metal is the only raw material for lenses and infrared detectors used in thermal imagers. And ASTROHN is the only manufacturer of such components in the country. Today the company can cast one thousand five hundred parts per month, but can double its capacity, if necessary.
If our healthcare understands this is a device that accurately determines the high temperature of the human body, I think we will have orders. If we are now counting on 20%, then, I think, we can occupy 10-15% in the market..
ASTROHN germanium lenses and infrared detectors are used at Lytkarino Optical Glass Plant, part of Schwabe holding. In Soviet times, the enterprise produced binocular magnifiers for neurosurgery. Since this spring, thermal imaging cameras have been produced at the plant near Moscow. The device remotely registers high body temperature in humans and reports this to the operator. The first order was from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to provide federal authorities with similar equipment. But other potential buyers have already got interested in the thermal imagers.
Now we are working with the Ministry of Transport, for railway stations, airports, so that to equip crowded places with such systems that can remotely, at a distance of 5-10 meters, identify people with fever.
Healthcare is one of the largest national projects in Russia. The government allocated over one trillion three hundred billion rubles for its implementation until 2024. Moreover, most of the funds will be spent in the next two years, mainly for the purchase of domestic products. It is difficult to say whether it will be bandages or sophisticated medical equipment. But the coronavirus epidemic seems to have forced authorities to take a new look at national security and those who provide it. Domestic medical industry should help protect the health of citizens, and this becomes the most important business vector.
