The specialists of ASTROHN Technology Ltd are to produce 17 µm pixel VOx microbolometric detectors

Due to vast experience in the development and production of ASTROHN-16035-1 thermal imaging detectors with a pixel size of 35 μm and a resolution of 160×120 pixels and ASTROHN-38425-1 with a pixel size of 25 μm and a resolution of 384×256 pixels, ASTROHN Technology Ltd developed the design and production technology of more modern and advanced thermal imaging detectors.

In 2017, ASTROHN Technology Ltd is to launch 384×288 and 640×480 microbolometric detectors with a pixel size of 17 μm and a temperature sensitivity of 60 mK and 40 mK.

The reduced pixel size gives several advantages to new detectors:

  • improved spatial resolution (the ability to distinguish details and detect objects at large distances
  • smaller detector dimensions, more compact design of the thermal imaging module;
  • increasing image quality by reducing the effect of aberrations.

New thermal imaging detectors will also be used for the production of ASTROHN-384A17 and ASTROHN-640A17 thermal imaging modules – one of the latest developments of the ASTROHN Technology Ltd.

The above listed features allow reducing the size and weight of the optoelectronic system built on the basis of ASTROHN thermal imaging modules.

For unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) this means more time and flight range, for a fighter – the reduced weight of equipment, for robotics – longer battery life and reduced overall dimensions.
